Fiona O’Reilly Zwald, MD, MRCPI's Biography

Dr. Fiona O’Reilly Zwald, M.D. received her medical degree from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland/National University of Ireland in Dublin in 1990. After completing a residency in both internal medicine and dermatology in Ireland, Dr. O’Reilly Zwald came to the United States where she again completed a residency in Dermatology at the Emory University School of Medicine.

After completing a clinical research fellowship in the Dermatology branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Dr. O’Reilly Zwald completed an approved fellowship training program in Mohs micrographic surgery and advanced reconstructive surgery at Vanderbilt University. Dr. O’Reilly Zwald then returned to Emory to serve full-time as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. She developed a particular interest in dermatologic conditions associated with solid organ and bone marrow transplant recipients and established a multidisciplinary dermatology clinic onsite at the Emory Hospital Transplant Clinic, where she managed patients who had received solid organ transplants.

Dr. O’Reilly Zwald opened O’Reilly Dermatology in 2018 and provides comprehensive medical and surgical dermatologic care to both adult and pediatric patients. The focus of her practice is screening and management of patients who have, or who are at risk for, skin cancer – and especially those who are transplant recipients. She specializes in Mohs surgery as well as advanced reconstructive techniques, melanoma excision, and routine skin surgery. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology (board certified) and is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS).

Dr. O’Reilly Zwald is Past President of the International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative whose members dedicate their time to the management of skin cancer in patients who have received a solid organ transplant. Dr Zwald served on the Board of Directors of the American College of Mohs surgery 2014-2017 and was Chair of the Scientific Committee of the ACMS for 2014. She currently serves on the Scientific Committee for the American Society for Dermatologic surgery.

She is also the author of over twenty research articles, review articles, and book chapters and has given numerous presentations in the fields of skin cancer management and transplant Dermatology both nationally and internationally. Dr. O’Reilly Zwald is also the proud mother of two girls, Tara and Sara, and together with her husband, Jim, enjoys an active family life.

James has been actively involved with health care delivery and in particular with medical practices during his entire career. He began as the Director of Urological Services at Georgia Baptist Medical Center and also served as Administrator for Transplant and Nephrology Services for the University of Illinois and Chicago Hospital. James also served as a consultant for Medical Management Associates, American Appraisal, Deloitte and KPMG.

James received a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Auburn University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

James also collaborates with clinicians and management in the medical practice community and is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).

Heather Truelove's Biography

Heather is a certified MOHS Technician and Medical Assistant. She received her training at Lanier Technical College and worked many years in dermatology.

Heather is an active member of the medical community both on a local and national scale. She has been a member of the American Society of MOHS Histotechnology (ASMH) since 2012 and regularly attends the annual meeting where she receives CME's and networks with other technicians in the field.
